Discipleship Groups

5 CovenantDiscipleship Groups (D-Groups)

D-Groups are groups of 2-3 students partnered with 1 discipleship mentor who have all signed the discipleship covenant (see below).

The groups meet once a week in Covenant for Bible Study, Accountability, Communication and Community.

Mickey Cox directs the Discipleship program. Here are the expectations for discipleship:

Covenant for Discipleship

THE GOAL
A No Limits Disciple is one who recognizes they have a life worth sharing and who is in covenant to be a consistently growing Christian. A No Limits Disciple is one who commits herself or himself in friendship to a discipleship mentor for a period of time within a small community of fellow believers who have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and who also desire to grow spiritually. Together, their goal is one of striving toward spiritual maturity through accountability, vulnerability, experience, and relationship. This is coupled with a goal of equipping the younger disciple to reproduce a Christian walk in another spiritual generation for Jesus Christ.

THE COVENANT
As a committed Christian who is willing to take on this Adventure of becoming a No Limits disciple, I covenant together with my Discipleship Mentor and Discipleship Partners to do the following:
•Develop a daily personal Bible study and prayer time.
•To keep up my Discipleship Journal, writing in it daily as much as possible.
•To fellowship with each other on a regular basis – building strong and affirming relationships with each other.
•Live out the Christian life as an example and role model to other teens in the youth group.
•Participate fully in worship services with the greater body of believers, taking sermon notes for future reference.

This would include, but not be limited to:
1.Meet at least once a week with my Discipleship Mentor and Partners to develop in me the Discipleship process that Jesus clearly left behind for us to follow.
2.Apply to my life those truths and principles learned from God’s Word that will be discussed in our weekly Discipleship time.
3.Make myself available to participate in relationship building activities within our discipleship group in order to bring a community feel for this adventure.
4.Regularly attend Sunday School, Worship services, mid-week services, as well as other activities of the Church that are a vital part of spiritual growth.
5.Make myself available for individual times with my discipleship partner.

The D Blog
If you are a part of a D-Group in Senior High be sure to get chatting on the All New D-Blog. It is the opportunity for you and your D group to touch base during the week. We hope that it becomes a useful site for discussion. Let Rob or Brian know that you want to be a member and give it a try!
